The use of scent and the 5 senses in writing is essential.
By creating moments whereby the reader is able to connect to time, place, mood, character, etc.
writers open up a world of possibility and recognition.
A book without the right scent-ual details
is like a rose without thorns…
beautiful
but without bite.

I have to “layer” my drafts – The first draft is my page-vomit, the second one I shred down to it’s essentials and make sure it all makes sense, the third one I breathe life into it with the senses 😉
