How Do You Define FICTION?

Dictionary Fiction

Fiction:

The class of literature comprising works of imaginative narration, especially in prose form;

something feigned, invented, or imagined; a made-up story (dictionary.com)

While I can logically agree with the sterile nature of the dictionary explanation of our beloved term fiction,

the idea that there is still truth in a lie provides the weight and insight that this medium truly offers the world.

Every reader and writer of fiction has their own personal definition – What’s yours?

  1. Fiction is so hard to define in a sentence, I guess dictionary.com get’s it quite right in the context but not really so much in the substance, of which I agree every one has their own definition.

    For me, fiction is something in which we can escape the real world and its problems, and simply lose ourselves by becoming someone else, an onlooker in someone else’s world.
