An Inexpensive Idea

Publicity Tip #45 ~

5 DollarsWhether you’re a self-publisher working on a tight budget or a traditionally published author working to encapsulate an idea for your next book the website Fiverr.com might be just what you need.

Now, there’s a lot of controversy going around about only paying a pittance for high-quality services but this is a little bit different.

The concept behind Fiverr is that there are a number of services you can buy for only $5.

5 Dollars!

Now, the controversy lies around the fact that if we pay for professional services at such inexpensive rates then that will degrade and devalue the services being offered/supplied.

I get that and agree with it.

Not all of Fiverr works this way. Many of the $5 services are introductions to larger discount packages the supplier offers. I went looking for a visual artist to draw a concept design for me and found a spectacular guy based out of Viet Nam. His $5 offer was for a sketch but what he showed were final, full-colour paintings of those sketches. But he offered an introductory price of $30 for his high-detail sketches and simple colour images.

This was reasonable.

What I like about Fiverr is that they use the $5 idea to introduce you people looking to make a name for themselves and build their portfolio. And it’s not just about pictures and drawing. There are editors and graphic designers to find who can help you clean up your work and make a fantastic  book cover that won’t leave you penniless.

So if you’re shopping around for a great deal, check out Fiverr – you might just find what you’re looking for 🙂
