Every writer should have a mutual understanding between the waste basket and his writing:
you can’t have one without the other.
A good writer needs to know in advance that large chunks of her writing will never see
anywhere but the bottom of the trash can/recycling bin.
If you don’t believe this simple fact,
you’re still learning.

Many new writers have yet to either experience or realize this and the reality of it is often too difficult to bear without having gone through the rejection process.
