The whole reason for a story
is that we have something to say about something
important to us.
Often these moments come from
either experiencing or sharing the
experience of another who has suffered in some way.
If nothing significant happens to our
beloved characters
throughout the story
then how are we, and thus our readers, to
find meaning in the sharing?
It’s the journey of suffering that brings
significance to character and plot.
We must bleed in our writing for
others to hear our words.
